Students find the matching word. Game 2 can be played 2 ways. One way matches the CVC words, the second way has to match the CVC word to the CVCE word (for example can and cane are a match). There are 12 CVC word cards and 12 CVCE word cards. Game 3 can be played 2 ways. The first way students match the CVC words. The second way has the students find a rhyming word that matches the word on the board. There are 16 CVC word cards and then an additional 16 CVC word cards that rhyme with the words on the board. Game 4 has 2 boards. One matches CVC words to the matching word on the board and the other matches CVCE words to the matching word on the board. There are 12 CVC word cards and 12 CVCE word cards. These made up phrases use lots of CVC words and a few CVCe words to help students visually discriminate the words. These can be used during guided reading or as apart of fluency intervention. They are organized in groups of 12 (based on the border). Each set of 12 can be copied on different colored paper, so teachers and students can keep track of fluency progress.
